I have lovingly hand scented these myself and like most scented goodies they will mellow out and fade over time. My test pillow is still softly scented ~4 months in but this may vary for you under different conditions.
If you wish to reduce the scent quickly you may gently hand wash each side with a damp cloth and tiny amount of fabric soap, thoroughly dry. Since the scent is added externally this should remove most or all of it.
